Yes I also believe Chew Pigott Gillikin was the father of William Henry Gillikin, although with Sabra Gillikin the mother.
Chew Pigott Gillikin had two marriages, (1) 24 Jul 1874 to Caledonia Goulding and (2) 19 Jul 1908 to Delana Asenith Styron. The first and only Postmaster of Otway was also charged as the father of Mollie Lavenia Gillikin by Caledonia Gillikin in the Jan 1875 term of Carteret Court. A bastardy bond was posted with Chew the only bondsman. This has subsequently been abstracted but unfortunately a transcription error occurred and he is listed as "G P Gillikin" instead. Everyone mentioned here (except Delana) are neighbors in 1880 Otway (Straits District), and it is very complicated to interpret that 1880 census without seeing the available NC death certificates for children who had Chew as the father.
I'll focus only on Sabra Gillikin who is listed as SINGLE in 1880, head of household with three of her brothers, and her two children William H[enry] Gillikin and Mary F Gillikin. The 6 May 1925 NC death certificate for William Henry Gillikin shows "C P Gillikin" as father and "Sarah Brooks" as mother. Sabra Gillikin did eventually marry 5 Mar 1901 in West Wade Creek to William Brooks. Her dau Mary was born about 1879 while Chew was married to Caledonia Golding, and there is no evidence he was the father. Keep in mind that there are two different women named Caledonia who were involved with Chew. His first wife Caledonia Golding, dau of Alpheus Goulding and Abigail Salter was not Caledonia Gillikin, dau of Anson Gillikin and Rebecca Gillikin, mother of Mollie Lavenia Gillikin.
Sabra Gillikin was a dau of James W Gillikin and Mary Ann Gillikin. Frances Elisha Piner was a dau of Jacob W Piner and Isabella Piver.
