Pat, Thomas Gillikin wrote his will 28 Aug 1778 and it was probated Dec. 1778. I have the same children but there were two Sarah's one married to a Clancey and another Sarah married to an Arthur which I believe is John Arthur for in John's will written 25 March 1777 he states that his wife, Sarah, is the daughter of Thomas. (may don't be the same people) It was common to name one daughter after the father's mother and one after the mother's mother....so?
1.George married Martha Sharpe 9 Jan 1799 and had children William, Hannah, Jacob, Tamer and a female and male child. George married 2nd to Patsey Piner 6 July 1820 and had a son, George Decature. George wrote his will 9 July 1831 and it was probated Sep 1831. 2.Alexander married Mutey (Lawrence?). Alex was made guardian to Charlotty & Laben Lawrence, May 1805. He died bet. 29 March 1808 when will was written and May 1808 when it was probated. They had children, Male(Laben Lawrence?), Cassandra, Eliza and Sally. Mutey married John Simpson 01 Jan. 1810 and was made guardian to the children June 1810. 3. Charles married Elizabeth (Dec 1775, Charles and his wife Elizabeth sold land to John Knox). They had 3 male children born between 1774-1790, nothng on them. Charles married Alice Gabrial 25 May 1795, they had 2 male and 2 female children born between 1790-1810. 17 June 1789 the tax gather turned in Charles Jr. for being insovant & delinquent. Feb 1793, Charles had 3 orphans he was unable to clothe & provide for. Did Charles marry Alice to take care of his children? He and Alice had 2 male and 2 female children and Alice was head of house hold in 1810 census. His will was written 7 Mar 1809 and Alice, his wife was excutor. 4. Jesse married Comfort Hill bef. 1790 and had children George Anson (Capt, 1790 census Edenton District), then 3 males, Sallie, James, female and Polley. Jesse died before 1825. 5. Thomas already posted. 6. Benjamin married Comfort and had a son named William. Benjamin died bef May 1798 for Comfort gave bond with Jesse & James Gillikin. 7. Jane married Rees who I believe is Thomas. 8. Sarah who married a Clancey 9.Unes who married a Piner who I believe is Thomas Jr. 10. James married Mary Pigott, 14 Feb 1799. James served in the War of 1812. They had 1 male born 1784-1790, 2 males born 1790-1800, Jane who was the excutor of her father's will, Male 1794-1800, Ruraney, Clarky who married Richard Arthur I, Abigail who married William Gillikin, Charlotte who married James Gillikin and Polly. 11. Sarah who married John Arthur. I do believe that there are some big gapes in this line that are not filled and I believe that is because there are so many with the same name that it is hard to tell them apart. If they have Jr. behind their name it does not mean they are named after their father. It could be an uncle, grandfather or even the next door neighbor. Because if there is Charles Jr. who is Charles Sr? and where did they go?
