Hello to the"Gilli" Clan, after doing some research for the lineage of my grandfather's greatgrandfather,Gillison Martin, I have discovered that "Gilli" was amix between old Irish and a hebrew word for "follower of Jesus".Which follows my other line of family to a t., and seems to really fit your post.I have run into the proverbial brick wall in regards to my Martin side of the family. My grandfather's mother was Cherokee, Una Martin b.1895-d.1982, her father was Jessie (Walter?) Martin b.1841-d.1898(married a Sarah Crownover), whose father was Gillison MArtin that married a Rebecca Brown from the Cumberland Mountain in TN.I can find absolutly no record of my family outside of oral traditionUna (also a very old Irish name)married a David Cantrell from GA.My family moves to AR, and MO from the east coast.I do have timelines if you need them.My question is, is there any thoughts as to whether my Gillison Martin is related to this Clan?Several hypotheses lead me to believe this is so.And I can find no record anywhere of Gillison Martin and am desperatly looking for his line.I hope that this rings a bell with someone out there.
Wado,
Heather
