I had no idea there was this much interest in Alexander Gillon! I am a descendant from my father's father's side, and gave my son the middle name Alexander.
Gillon, aside from his naval exploits (!), was instrumental in laying out the SC capitol city of Columbia. There is a historical marker at the USC Law School which mentions his role in this. However, there is no Gillon Street in Columbia of which I am aware. He was booted from the history books, you know.
A good place to do research is the Columbiana Library on the USC campus in Columbia. They would have probably as much as anyone.
