Fylde area Gillows

Dear Stephen,
First, correction to my last message. After Isabella, born Preston, there was John J., aged 8 not 6, born in Brindle. Then came Catherine, aged 6, born in Astley, followed by Thos. and Richard as before. Also in the household were William Caton, a stepson aged 16, and Annie Caton, a stepdaughter aged 14, together with Richard Caton, aged 30, and John Caton. aged 27, described as brothers-in-law. This could mean Robert's wife Hannah was born a Caton, with illegitimate Children, or perhaps she was a widow of Someone called Caton. Finally in the household was John J. Gillow, aged 27, a brother of Robert.
Second. There now seems a good chance that this is your family, as the 1875 date could be wrong. Some children could have been born after 1881. If so, the next step is to obtain birth certificate for Robert Gillow born ca.1841, which will give us his father and possible link to main branches of Fylde Gillows, to which my wife is connected. Do you have access to the Birth Register Index held in the Family Record Centre in London? If not, I can pursue this on my next visit there.
