I am not sure if they were Roman Catholic or not but Thomas Gillow d 1797 and most of his family and decendents are buried under the St. NIcholas Church, St. Nicholas-at-wade Thanet, Kent. It doesnt say what denomination it is. I am not sure how old the Brewery is but it is still standing and from what my great great aunt says it that they were making it into apartments or something. I know it is over 150 years old but I dont have occupations from the people that lived in the 16-1700's yet. I am trying to trace them back to your area since that seems to be the place where all the Gillow's originate. There has been a rumor that my first Gillow's before they came to England were from Italy with the spelling Gillo and that he had worked on the Sistene(?) Chapel. I dont know what he did but that has been part of our history for as long as i can remember. That was back in 1400? i think and then he came to England after that sometime...The farthest back I can get in Kent is Thomas Gillow October 09, 1675...and his parents I think are John and Mary but I cant find out where John was born or his birthday. Hope this helps...Kim
