John W. Gilreath - KIA, WWI
Anderson County, TN.On 23 July, 1915, John William Gilreath (20) married Maude Duff (17).On June 5, 1917, John registered for the draft (World War I) listing that he was married with one child.
John W. Gilreath was inducted on Nov 26, 1917, assigned to the 82nd Division, 328th Infantry, and arrived in Europe (AEF) on May 1, 1918.John was listed as KIA (killed in action) on October 7, 1918; Maud(e) D. Gilreath, wife, of Marlow, TN, was the person notified.
In 1921, Maude Gilreath married Luther Woods in Anderson County, TN.
On the 1930 census for Denver Colorado, Luther Woods, his wife Maude, two stepsons, Frank (13) and Jimmie (11) and two brother's in law James and Elmer Duff are all listed in the same household, all born in Tennessee.
It seems apparent that Frank and Jimmie were sons of John W. Gilreath.Would like some confirmation if possible.
note:
John W. Gilreath was a g.g. grandson of Alexander Gilreath. As far as we can determine at this time, John was the only Gilreath killed during World War I.
