The will of Hiram Gilreath was written in November 1825 but not filed until the October term 1826.Witnesses for Hiram's will were William Gilreath and Hugh Montgomery, Jr.
The estate was to be divided more or less equally between Hiram's sister Patsy, brother, Hilliar, sister Rebecca and sister Susanna.
Hiram appointed his sister Patsy as his executrix and brother Hilliar as executor.
While I have refiled her petition, I seem to recall that Nancy C. McCorkle filed her first petition in 1881, 9 years after the (so called) final distribution of Hilliar's estate.Follow up petitions were filed by Nancy's attorney but the final resolution of the estate seems to have taken place in August 1883.
Speaking of the estate of Hilliar.I had completely forgotten that Kenneth and I also picked up a copy of Hardy's final share of Hilliar's estate from the SC State Archives. This share of $41.85 was paid by the Sheriff (Wilkes or Greenville?), signed for and paid to John H. Gilreath on May 25, 1872.The actual amount received by John was $37.30 because of expenses.
