My GGG Grand Mother was Bridget Guinnane of Coney Island (address as shown on Marriage certificate). She married John Leyden of Tiermaclane, Drumquin on 27 July 1855. The Griffith Valuation of 1855 show the couple leasing property at Drumquin.

On 24 Sep 1926 Bridget died at the age of 91 at Tiermaclane (M 2560/19 from Ennis Court House). Her husband had died in May 1891 (F 130/63 Dublin). We have been unable to establish the site of their burial.

The witnesses at the wedding of John and Bridget were James Leyden and Catherine Guinnane - presumably brother and sister of the bride and groom.

They had 13 children and the Guinnane's/Ginnane' s appear on several occasions as sponsors at Baptisms. Given the Christian names listed in your GenForum posting you may find the following of interest.

Mary 30 May 1857 Pat and Ann Ginnane

Nora (Honora??) 6 Sep 1859 James and Mary                                                                 Guinnane

Anne 28 Jul 1875 Dan and Mary

The Mary referred to above subsequently married John O'Connor from Kildysart on 18 June 1879. They had 9 children and and the Guinnane name again appears:

Mary B 2 Feb 1884 Jer (sic) and Nora

Ellen 9 Jul 89 Dan and Mary

The above information was provided from the Clare Heritage Centre in 1988. I am resident in Melbourne, Australia and can be contacted at
