Hi Traci,

It's one and the same. In the book it does list your Mom's birthday as December 23,1933, married O.L. Tucker in Evansville, Indiana. Her sisters' full names were Margaret Ann b. 4/25/1920, Dora Arvena b. 10/24/27, Levina Alice b. 9/27/1929, Bertha Arlene. It gives more information going back not forward. There is some information on your Aunt's children; but grandchildren and great grandchildren of Richard Everett are the only more recent entries.

The book I mentioned before, "The Githens Family in America" is worth looking into. If you don't have a copy, it is in the library of Congress. I don't know if it is yet online (I doubt it) but several years ago out of curiousity I looked it up on their website and found the listing. Both my sister and I have a copy; it is quite extensive and relates all Githens' back to 3 brothers and 1 sister who migrated to the states from possibly somewhere in the British Isles in the early 1700's. There are pictures, anecdotes, copies of letters, accounts of civil war and revolutionary war records. It is an incredible book. I know that Sherwood Githens Jr who wrote the book carried on from another Githens, George Burling Githens (1862-1928)who researched extensively and traveled alot and did interviews with Githens across the country. Sherwood was a professor at Duke University in Durham N.C., and if you look on the net at the city you will find schools, soccer fields, etc. named after him. He is now retired, but his son is a teacher at a college in New York City.

Of yes, the book says that your grandfather, James Henry Githens, was married to Myrtle Welty in Louisville, Ill, on 2/17/1916. He was born 2/17/1892 in Portland, Oregon and died 12/17/1943. He was buried in Tolliver Cemetery in Louisville,Illinois. Myrtle was born 12/19/1895 in Louisville, Illinois and died 7/8/1969 in Salem, Illinois. She is buried next to her husband & son George Henry b. 7/12/1918 who died in Casino, Italy on 11/7/1943. He was in the U.S. Infantry. His body was returned and buried in Tolliver.

I would love to relate more to you at a later time, and hope to hear from you again.
