John Gladish Married Elizabeth Gill abt. 1735 Williamsburg, James City Co., VA
Henry Gill of Williamsburg, Virginia, died in 1721 owning several lots in Williamsburg. He left a will naming a wife Margaret, and children John and Elizabeth. After son John died 1725 and wife Margaret died 1729, the entire estate went to daughter Elizabeth Gill.
Elizabeth had a guardian in 1731, but in 1737, John and Elizabeth Gladish/Gladist began selling the Gill lots.Colonial Williamsburg Digital Library has an article online about the property, which includes Henry Gill's will and other information.
Other articles on the Williamsburg site mentioning John Gladish and the Gill property are:
In 1811, in Warren Co., Kentucky, there was a power-of-attorney executed by the heirs-at-law of Elizabeth Gill to recover from her estate in the "City of Williamsburgh:"
"Power of Attorney from Moses Spivy, Isaac Hill, James Wright Gladish, Richard Gladish, Isaih Gladish, Jeremiah Gladish, James Surgenon to John Loving for purpose of recovering for them in City of Williamsburgh (no state) whatever is due them as heirs at law to Elizabeth Gill who was entitled under her father. Dated 12 Oct 1811. Witt: Thos Bowles, John Porter (John Potter?)." (From: "Deed abstracts of Warren County, Kentucky, 1797-1812," Joyce Martin Murray, Dallas, Texas, 1985, page 486.)
James Wright Gladish, Richard Gladish, Isaiah Gladish, and Jeremiah Gladish are reported to have been the sons of Richard Gladish Sr., who was on the 1790 census in Richmond Co., North Carolina.Moses Spivey was the husband of Rebecca Gladish. I don't know how Isaac Hill and James Surgenon fit into the picture, but they either were grandsons of Elizabeth Gill--perhaps through daughters--or were married to daughters or granddaughters, otherwise they would not have been heirs at law.
According to unconfirmed family history, Rebecca Gladish married Moses Spivey 10 November 1777 in North Carolina.

Richard Gladish Sr. apparently died in Richmond Co., North Carolina, about 1793.I believe his widow and unmarried children were on the 1800 census in Richmond Co. listed under Richard Gaddis/Laddis (presumably Jr.):
1800>NORTH CAROLINA>RICHMOND>NO TWP LISTED Series: M32Roll: 33Page: 243

Two sons married in Richmond Co. after the 1800 census:

Gladish, James Wright married Morris, Martha on 29 Dec 1800
Gladish, Richard married Lampley, Marian on 12 May 1803
The first record for the Gladish sons in Warren Co., Kentucky, is when Jeremiah Gladishmarried Nancy Lindsey December 07, 1806 in Warren Co., Kentucky.
Moses and Rebecca Gladish Spivey apparently never moved to Warren Co., Kentucky, which makes it odd that Moses was listed on the power-of-attorney.There was an Isaac Hill in Warren Co. at the right time, but I do not know if he was the one connected to the Gladish family or not.
Does anyone know about this Gill/Gladish family?
