My Gladwin connection is from CT and started out as Gladdings, the generation that started changing the name is James Gladding/Gladwin (b. 1774, d. 27 Oct., 1850, Higganum, CT) m. 20 June, 1797, Margaret Tripp (b. ca. 1779, d. 9 Dec., 1865, Higganum, CT), they are buried in the Higganum Cemetery and they had:
1. James Gladwin (b. 15 Oct., 1797); 2. Russel Gladwin (b. 19 Nov., 1799, Essex, CT, d. 5 Jan., 1874, Higganum, CT); 3. Erasmus Gladwin (b. 17 Oct., 1801); 4. Sophia Gladwin (b. 3 Dec., 1803); 5. Orlando Gladwin (b. 15 Dec., 1805); 6. Malanthia Gladwin (b. 1 Jan., 1808); 7. Henry Shantely Gladwin (b. July, 1810); 8. Malanthia Gladwin (b. 18 Oct., 1812); 9. William Johnes Gladwin (b. 26 Feb., 1814); 10. Julia Ann Gladwin (b. 2 March, 1816); 11. Richard Gladwin (b. 28 Oct., 1818); 12. Timothy Oskar Gladwin (21 Oct., 1820); 13. Elisha Bardwell Gladwin (b. 28 Sept., 1822); 14. Margaret Julia Ann Gladwin (b. 3 Aug., 1824); these children used the last name of Gladding and Gladwin.
