Jan,

Wonderful information. I would be glad to receive any further info you have on this family. My email is Rob@TheRoyFamily.com Pondeat(?) Iím sure is an alternate spelling for Pontiac.

Now I need to connect Major Henry to my family. Family lore (often faulty) states that my Gladwins were descended from Major Henry. Iíve traced my Gladwins back to George Gladwin, who married Elizabeth Gilbert on 19 May 1823 in Youlgreave , Derbyshire. She was born 26 May 1803 in Youlgreave, the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Hardwick) Gilbert. Georgeís son, Francis emigrated to America and settled in Akron, Ohio.

The question of the day however, is who was Georgeís father? And was Major Henry is grandfather, great-grandfather, an uncle, or too distant to count?

Drop me a line and we can explore this all.

Regards,
Rob Roy
