My great-grandfather Allen Louis Glancy was a brother to your grandfather Sylvester Gorman Glancy, who was known as "Uncle Vess" in our family.According to my great uncle Maurice Galen Glancy ("Uncle Gig"), a nephew of Uncle Vess and currently 88 years old, Uncle Vess was married to Aunt Maggie and had a son named Gorman and a daughter named Elsie.I am guessing that your father is Gorman. You are not correct when you say that the father of Sylvester Gorman Glancy was also named Sylvester Gorman Glancy. His father was Francis M. Glancy and his mother was Mary Jane Gorman.(I have a tintype photograph of Francis M. Glancy in his Civil War uniform.)The siblings of Sylvester Gorman Glancy were Luella M., Allen Louis, Harvey M., James, and Florence Emma.Francis M. Glancy was the son of John W. Glancy and Drusilla Flora.John W. Glancy and Drusilla Flora had the following children:Francis M., Rachel, William, Clinton, Phillip, Amelia, Addison, and Thomas.(Addison escaped from Andersonville Prison in the Civil War.)John W. Glancy was a brother to Augustus C. Glancy. For further lineage back, please look at my response to Carolynn Crawford regarding Augustus C. Glancy. My great uncle Gig could tell you much about Uncle Vess because he was very close to all of his uncles in the Glancy family.
