Glancy and Clancy are the same name, and there are dozens of variations. The variations mainly come from the Anglization of the Gaelic Macphlannchaidh. It means "Son of the ruddy complected warrior".Our ancestors were brehons (sp.) or lawyers to the kings of Ireland, the O'brians.I looked this up in 1963 in - shoot me if I'm wrong - O'Rourke's "Book of Heraldry".I also confirmed it in one on those side show tents at the Texas State Fair selling family crests in 1972. You can find access to this stuff by entering "heraldry" in a search engine. Please excuse the spelling of the big words.
