Under the heading O'Glavin 1852. there is a record of a
My records indicate a Matthew Glavin owning land in the Parish of Clonpriest and the Civil Teritory of Bally madog. At the same locality there is a Margaret Glavin listed as a Land owner. Their land was located in County Cork near Youghal.Nearby is Killeagh where there is also a Glavin listed as having land I mention Killeagh because this was the home of a family Unices (Am sure I do not have write spelling)There is a memorial placque in a forest near the town telling of the family. A Unices was a Royalist in Boston when Washington captured the City during the US revlution. he escaped to Nova Scotia and later became the Provinces Attorney General. It is reported that he set up a fund for shipwrecked Irish sailors. If such a fund existed it may be quite a mine of informatioon for Irish in Nova Scotia. New Foundland and Labradore. Nice to hear MO CARA.
