You responded to dennis Glaves...he is the Historian for the Gleaves Family Association. I amt he President of this new organization. We had our first family reunion in Kimberling City, Missouri the last weekend of July this year. We had 54 in attendance and 12 states represented. we are now planning the next reunion in Virginia in the year 2003. That is where most of the Gleaves we have so far, started with Matthew Gleaves after he came from England. If you would like to be put on our mailing list, please send me your snail address.
I looked up on my research and that is what I found on Robert S. Hill, born: Mary 6, 1801 in Virginia.
Wife: Elizabeth Gleaves, born: about 1803 in Davidson County, Tennessee; died: June 23, 1833 in Davidson County, Tennessee.
married: December 15, 1825 in Davidson County, Tennessee
Children: William G. Hill 1826
John M. 1828
Nancy (Nannie) 1836
Felix W. 1843
Thomas Payton 1843
Elizabeth's parents were thomas Harvye Gleaves and Sallie (Sarah) Smith of Cripple Creek, Wythe County, Virginia. My husband, Jerry's lineage goes back to Thomas an Sallie. Thomas' paarents were William and Elizabeth.
We are trying to get a Gleaves Website started...Keith Hinson has so far put this together...http://www.keith-hinson.com/index.html. This research was done by Dennis Glaves.
Hope to talk to you soon!
