Dear Susan,
All of us Gleaves in the US are very interested in our English roots. We suspect that a Thomas Gleaves (or Glaves), Cambridgeshire c.1720's, is our English patriarch. All the info I have is on the US side, is since about 1745.
If I come across anything, I'll let you know.
