Hi Bob,
Wonder if you would comment on what I think is the origin of the idea that Esther was a Mitchell.
A man named John Mitchell made his will September 23, 1780 in Augusta County and died in 1783. One of the witnesses when it was written was MARY TURK, wife of Thomas Sr. and daughter of Matthew and Esther Glaves. His will lists several individuals named Russell receiving inheritances as well as an "ESTHER TURK". Esther is positively identified when later in the will the following appears; "THOMAS TURK, father of Esther, is to control her legacy until she is of age". There is no explanation included in the will documenting what, if any, relationship Esther had to John Mitchell.
Any ideas?
The will appears in Chalkleys.
