Thanks for the info on Thomas Gleave, I had not see a record of his birth. Have you been able to link Thomas to Nancy C. Gleave?
To answer your first question, Thomas' occupation comes from the 1850 Census. All the info I provided comes from census records on ancestry.com.
Vickie, while I was pretty sure the individuals that you asked about were not from my Gleaves/Glaves line, I first thought they may be from another line that came to PA about 1680 (later settled in MD). Given that both William and his sister Margaret list their father as being born in England, I think we can rule out this line as well.
We do not have positive proof as to where our line came from but we do have strong evidence that is Cambridgeshire, England sometime about 1740. I might suggest that you try looking there first as there were quite a few Gleaves/Gleave families there.
I know that several members of the Gleaves Family Association have present day Gleaves contacts in Cambridge and they would be most happy to get you in touch with them. Who knows, maybe we are distantly related.
If you go to gleavesfamily.com and post a message, the webmaster will forward your post to those that may be able to help. Also, our family history has some info on the Cambridgeshire Gleaves as well as the line that came to PA contained in Chapter 1.
Hope this helps,
