Glad to see your persistence has paid off.
I'm interested in your thoughts on a piece of information I just found on Esther. Have you seen the Gordon Aronhime Papers on the Library of Virginia site?
This electronic card file of his handwritten notes has some info on Thomas and Esther Raferty gathered from several sources. I'm sure you are already familiar with most of these sources. Some of the notes are difficult to read but there is an entry that intrigued me on card #3.
At the top he has written "Rafferty, Esther" and underneath "born" and below that; "(illegible), Esther". Old Gordon wrote a surname in and then proceeded to change his mind and wrote a second one over the top of the first. I can't decipher it but the first letter looks like a "B" or a "D".
Any thoughts? It may provide another lead to track down. If someone has seen the actual document they may be able to make out one or both of his entries.
