My father, Charles Gambill Gleaves,Jr. age 76, is a native of Tennessee who has a life-long interest in geneaology but never had the time to research his family history, although he has gleaned a lot from relatives who passed on. We know we are descendents of Absalom Gleaves and William Gleaves, and we know our relatives fought for the Confederacy. We're just launching our family search, and are new to this. Can anyone give us any hints as to where to start? Can anyone help us follow the direct line from Charles Gleaves Jr. back to Charles Gleaves Sr., back to Jesse Gleaves, then back to his father, Guy Gleaves, Absalom Gleaves, and so forth all the way back to William? Thanks so much. We're brand new to this. Sorry to be so green!!!!!
