If we're related, then it probably goes way back to Scotland, since my Glenneys didn't appear in the U.S. until the 1870s.
However, I do know that the Glenneys/Glennys are a sept group of the Clan Mackintosh, which is the leading clan in the Clan Chattan (a confederation of clans).I have another connection to the Mackintosh clan through another branch, so I've done a little research on this.The Mackintoshes were originally from around Invernesshire, so I'd think the Glenneys were from somewhere nearby, but I don't know for certain since I am still trying to pinpoint the exact location of my 3rd great-grandfather's, James Glenney's, birthplace.
