There are many Glennie families a bit further west, in Kennethmont, Insch and Premnay. If you find you are connected to those, let me know.

BTW, I've found one ofthe easiest ways to get some idea, is to do a general search, like the census of 1881, targetting it to Strathdon or whatever parish, and then, asking for Glennie, any sex.

The highlands weren't massively populated, parishes were small, and such a search usually turns up less than 20 people.

As I say, I've done this for Insch and Premnay, and so have those with that surname, living usually in 3 or 4 households. You can get a fair bit of data, including ages, names, occupations and relationships.

It's searchable online through the General Registry of Scotland (GRO) which can be accessed though http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk It costs money, but only for searches you ask the results for. You can also have a look at actual scans of the records.
