I found John Francis GLEW mentioned in the extract of Probate registers (Will’s) for 1932, 1938 and 1951. As follows:- Sarah GLEW died 19/9/1932 4 Windsor Street,York , widow. Probate 28/9/1932 ,York, to John Francis GLEW, retired railway official, and Frederick Alippi GLEW, naval pensioner (£249) Alice GLEW died 10/11/1938 of 12 Charles Street,York, wife of John Francis GLEW. ProbateYork, 22/11/1938 to solicitor and Emma KIRBY, spinster (£42) John Francis GLEW, died 17/2/1951/ of Charles Street,York, Probate 8/5/1951 to Reginald HATFIELD (£3,809). The named person that Probate is granted to, is the person who carries out the wishes of the Will, and is usually a member of the family, friend, or a solicitor / lawyer. The (£) gives some indication of the value of the ‘estate’ of the deceased. I also found the following related entries to the family:- Fredercik Alippi GLEW, died 23/6/1954 4 Windsor Street,York, Probate 22/9/1954,York, to Eliza GLEW, spinster (then to Margaret Cecelia GLEW ) (£1,856) Eliza GLEW died 15/10/1954 4 Windsor Street,York, spinster. Administration 16/11/1954 to Margaret Cecelia GLEW, spinster (£611) Lucy GLEW, died 24/5/1959 4 Windsor Street,York, spinster. Probate 7/9/1959,York, to Margaret Cecelia GLEW, spinster (£1,142) It would appear that most of the girls in the family died as spinsters. Perhaps the oldest girl, Sarah (born 1867) had married and had a family. It could be that Reginald HATFIELD is a son-in-law of John Francis. I have no inforamtion for Wilfred. I hope this is of use to you. Notify Administrator about this message?
