Hello to all the Glews out there:
William Henry Sykes Glew was a Deputy Sheriff in Estevan. He and Mary Margaret (Peggy) his wife (my Nana) moved to Victoria. He was killed by a hit & run driver in 1953, I think. Nana passed in the late 1970s. I can not remember the date. They had 5 children, Pauline (my mother), Crawford, Harry, Mabel & Gordon. Pauline & Harry live in the Vancouver area of Canada and Mabel lives in Ontario. Sadly my Uncle Crawford passed away in the early 1990s and Gordon was killed on a raid in France in WWII. I believe he was a member of the Black Watch or Special Services. The Saskatchewan government named a lake after him. Crawford, Mabel, Pauline and Harry all served in the armed forces overseas during WWII. My mother (Pauline) remembers visiting the family in Goole when she was a nursing sister. Uncle Crawford ran (I think) the Military Cadet camp in Vernon BC in the 60s. I remember going there when I was young and having the cadet dinner. He was very prominent in the government of BC after his service and lived on Vancouver Island. If you want more info on this branch of the Glews feel free to contact me and I will do my best.
