Otho Erwin Glover and Dayle Jackson Glover
(06/15/2003)Gaynel Dayle Kirk May 25, 1925 - June 12, 2003 Gaynel was born in Holiday, Texas, to Otho Erwin Glover and Dayle Jackson Glover. She grew up in Bartlesville, OK, and the Texas Panhandle. She met and married her lifelong partner, Mel C Kirk in 1942. After completing his years of Military Service in the Army Infantry, they lived in Borger, TX, Clarksville, WV, and Amarillo, TX, before settling in Austin, TX, and recently, San Marcos, TX. They had one son, David Lynn Kirk. Gay was a fun loving adventurous spirit, who possessed a passion for life and a gregarious personality, with a take-charge attitude. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and was a success in any activity she endeavored. She was active in many social organizations. She was an accomplished career and businesswoman, who served in the Governors Office under Gov. Price Daniels from 1962- 1964. She owned three Ladies Boutiques from 1963-1967, The Towne Shop, The Smart Shop, and Gaynel's. She later assisted in the family owned business, Appliance Distributors, Inc. Gaynell enjoyed fishing, and trips to their beach house on the Gulf Coast. She and Mel also raised and trained Quarter Horses at their Lazy K Ranch. Gay was an avid golfer, who shot two holes in one, held two 1st Round Championships, and was very active in the Quail Creek Country Club, where she was a member for 20 years. She also golfed many wonderful courses in her travels. Gaynel loved to travel. She traveled extensively with Mel, her friends, and family, and beloved pet. She and Mel motor-homed all through the US and North America, from Key West to Alaska, and all points in between. They traveled all 50 states, and she made several trips abroad. But what mattered most to Gay was her love of God, family and friends. She was a generous and loving spirit, who devoted her life to her Mother, Dayle, who preceded her in death, and the family that survived her, husband Mel; son David; brother Erwin; sister, Jackie; and her four beloved grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and their spouses. She lived a rich, joyous and full life, and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 15, 2003, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Pennington Funeral Home.
