Sorry, I haven't visited this site in a while.
Here is what I have found so far. The 1860 census for Barbour County shows the following:Newton J. Glover, head of household, age 80, born in Georgia:Ellen age 57, born in Georgia and Anne E age 17 born in Georgia.I haven't researched my Glovers too much.However, Margie Daniels Glovers website at the Geneva County, Alabama website has an extensive file on the Glover lines.John W. Creel's brother-in-law, was Elias Glover, and they both served together in the Civil War in the artillery. They fought in the Battle of Mobile Bay, at Ft. Gaines, and both men were taken prisoner.Elias was sent to Elmira, N.Y, where he died of disease.John was more fortunate and was sent to New orleans and then to Ship Island in the Gulf of Mexico, and was paroled.
Elias Glover married John's sister, Annie Jane Creel.She became Annie Glover.Annie E. Glover, married, John Wilburn Creel, and became Annie Creel.This made the situation a little bit confusing.Annie E. Glover's father or (possible grandfather) is shown as age 80 in the census.Some researchers feel that this may have been a mistake.There was a younger Newton J. Glover that is well documented in Margie Glover Daniels genealogy.Or it's quite possible there were two different men, with the same name and different generation. I haven't been able to establish a relationship between Annie E. Glover and Elias Glover, however, I am certain there is one.
I really don't think that it is a coincidence that there were Glovers living near John W. Creel's grandfather. William W. Creel senior, of the Barnwell district, S.C. but at this time I don't know how these Glovers relate to the Barbour, and Geneva County,Alabama,Glovers.Here is the website address :

In the 1800 Census for Orangeburg (Barnwell District) S.C. The Glovers found as next door neighbors of William Creel, are the following:
Tyse Glover; Abner Glover 2-1-0-0-1: 3-1-0-1-0;
William Glover 0-0-1-0-0:2-0-0-1-0; Peter Glover 1-0-0-1-0: 3-0-0-1-0.The : separates the males/females. The Mills Atlas shows 1825 for Orangeburg District shows the location of at least one of the Glovers farms on the north side of the South Fork of the Edisto River.I expect that all of them lived along this river on the north and south sides.William's property in this census was just on the south side of the Edisto in what is Bamberg County today.
It might be easier to find descendents of these Glovers and move forward towards Georgia and Alabama.Good luck hunting! Jeanne
