I think there must be two Thomas Glovers born at about the same time.In tracking Glover families of central and western NY, I located the Steuben Co families in Cortland, Cayuga and Steuben counties as possible relations to the Thomas Glover of Potter Co.Thomas Glover, b. 1827 in Cortland Co, is the son of Henry and Jane (Hagadorn) Glover of Cohocton, later Wayland. This Thomas seems to be the person in the Steuben Co, NY, 1850 census (Hornellsville) as well as the 1860 and 1870 census (Wayland). The Thomas of my search, b. ~1929 somewhere in NYS, is found in the Potter Co, PA, 1850 and 1860 census (Jackson Twp) and 1870 and 1880 census (Keating Twp).Thomas Glover of Potter Co was killed at Hulls in 1893 during an attempt to arrest an outlaw in the Glover house, and that episode made headlines throughout Pennsylvania and the NYS Southern Tier that year.Overlaps of Cortland Co families in the Jackson-Hector-Pike Twps of Potter Co suggest that Thomas Glover of Potter Co. and Charnick Glover of Elk Co, later Cameron Co, PA, are related.
