Aaron, DNA testing might help provide you with an answer. For example, there are descendants of Richard R. Glover of Giles Co., TN, but Richard for some of the same reasons as William S. Glover failed to meet the criteria for being a son of Ransom.THEN: one of Richard's direct male Glover descendants took the DNA test that showed he was not at all closely related to a cousin and me who have Ransom as a Most Recent Common Ancestor.
Research wise, some of these folks have been looking into the possibility that the only other Glover on the 1830 Giles Co., TN census, a possible widow named Elizabeth, could be the direction to follow.
Follow my thinking here: Sara Elizabeth Mason wrote a book after many years of research called "Glovers of Marengo Co., AL".In it she said that many Glovers moved from Sussex Co., VA around 1800 to Williamson Co., TN. If you will check those records you will find Glovers: William, Jones, Lancaster, Joseph, etc.
Some think that Eliz. of Giles could be the widow of Jones Glover---Wm'son Co., TNGlover, Jones m Betsy Latey Mar 16, 1816.
My thinking is that it's more likely that Eliz. was widow of William Glover of Williamson Co.
NOTE: Sussex Co.,VA Marriage Bonds show William Glover m Betty Sammons 25 Aug., 1797.Quite possibly they moved to Wm'son Co., TN with a bunch of the Glover family.
Another reason I pick Wm as her husband is because Elizabeth's 1830 census seems to match William Glover 1820 census of Wm'son Co., TN.Sons Richard b 1820 and Carroll b 1817 could be marked on both censuses, while sons James b 1801 could be gone from home and not included on either census while William S. b 1808 could be the son shown on the 1820 census as b 1805-1810 and gone from home on the 1830 Giles census.
3 females fall within the range of each census.
Elizabeth also matches age wise with each census.
Understand this is all pure conjecture, but possibility of a place to start.
Good luck.
