Isham Glover (ca. 1750- before 1785) & son Frederick Glover (ca. 1772- ca. 1829) New research by members of the Glover DNA project has helped to reconstruct the family of Isham Glover (ca. 1750- before 1785) and his wife Elizabeth. Isham Glover was born ca. 1750 in North Carolina. He is proved to be the son of William Glover (ca. 1711- 1782) and wife Catherine by William's will (signed April 1782 in Camden District, SC- proved August 1782 in Abbeville District, SC). In his will William Glover leaves a legacy to his son Isham's son Frederick. Before the American Revolution William Glover and some of his sons moved south to the area that is now York County, South Carolina. William's son Isham married about 1769 to Elizabeth. In 1837 their eldest child Ruth died in Catahoula Parish, LA. She had no children. Probate court records from Catahoula Parish specifically identify her siblings and two nephews. Depositions from Jethro and Esther Mobley state that they knew Ruth when she was about 15/16 years old in Fairfield County, SC and that her mother was Elizabeth and her father Isham Glover was dead at that time. Ruth Glover was the oldest child and then Unity, Catherine, Frederick and Washington Glover. At the time of Ruth Glover Nobles' (widow of Robert Nobles) death, her sister Catherine (Glover) Glover was dead and had sons Larkin and Seaborn Glover. Her sister Unity Glover McDonald (the widow of Alexander McDonald) and her brothers Frederick and Washington Glover were living. Family of Isham Glover ( ca. 1750- before 1785) Parents: William Glover (ca. 1711- 1782) and Catherine Grandparents: William Glover (ca. 1682-1754 Northampton Co., NC) and Mary Norwood (ca. 1685- 1764 Northampton Co., NC) Spouse: Elizabeth ? Children: 1. Ruth Glover (ca. 1769- Nov. 1837 Catahoula Parish, LA) m. Robert Nobles- no issue 2. Unity Glover (ca. 1770- ) m. Alexander McDonald 3. Catherine Glover (ca. 1771- before Oct. 1838) m. ? Glover, issue: Larkin Glover, Seaborn Glover 4. Frederick Glover (ca. 1772- ca. 1829 Warren Co., GA) m. Nancy Jones 5. Washington Glover (ca. 1780- 1843 DeSoto Co., MS) m. Elizabeth Jones. The Glover DNA project at familytreedna.com has a participant who is a descendant of Frederick Glover (ca. 1772). His DNA matches several other participants whose research leads them back to William Glover/Mary Norwood, but whose lines of descent can not be proven at this time. Thanks Judy and Wendy for your great research. Notify Administrator about this message?
