I wish I could help you with Willis J Glover, but he is still a mystery to me. Nathaniel and William P Glover along with the 2 Gladdish brothers of Limestone Co AL were part of the heirs of Jones Glover's wife Judith (estate in Northampton County North Carolina)circa 1833. Nathaniel Glover had married his cousin Rebecca Glover in 1820 and had moved out to the Limestone Co AL area. If I recall correctly, his brother Alexander? also moved there. (sorry I do not have my notes close to hand). I'll keep going thru stuff in my computer to see what else I can post for the Jones Glover line.

However, there is still a mystery to me of what happened to Nathaniel Glover of the 1810 census of Halifax Co NC (who by the way is NOT the Nathaniel Glover who was the son of Jones Glover) I know that he is somehow related to these Glovers of Northampton Co NC and also to the Spann family. I think he died soon after the 1810 census, but I have no idea of what happened to the boys that I saw on his census. I wonder if they moved to Alabama?

I am glad to hear from a descendent of one of our unknown Glover kin and wonder if you possible know of any male descendents of AS Glover who could join our Glover Surname DNA project? The DNA project also looks for Glover descendents such as yourself who could take the Family Finder test. We already have members from the main group of Glover's living in Madison Co AL, but I'm not sure if they could be relatives of Willis J Glover.

Would you care to send me a decendency chart for Alfred Sidney Glover that I could add to our Glover Surname project? My email is

I was a bit puzzled by Alfred Sidney's 1850 census result wherein it was reported that he was born in 1841 TN. I did not see a Glover nearby in 1840 who could have been Willis J Glover. I did see however, where his mother Mary A (Tiller)Glover married Thomas S Carson in 1853, but I could not find any of these people in 1860 except Alfred Tiller, the uncle of Alfred Sidney Glover. So I guess my question is this: was the birthdate of AS Glover really 1841?
