My Great-Great Grandfather, William Glynn was born in Louisville, KY, in 1830, and later moved to Dubuque, IA, with his father and family. He had a brother named Bartholomew (called "B" for short) who disliked Iowa, and moved to Louisiana prior to the Civil War. Bartholomew fought in a Louisiana regiment and was wounded in the fighting at Gettysburg, PA. After that he returned to Louisiana to recouperate and I believe he lived out his life there.
