I have made great progress on your P. CÚlestin Gobeil question. The 1851 census is now available, and some images are ok others are awful. Thankfully, I found a clear image of Marcel Gobeil's family. (you have to search under Gobeille spelling). At this time he is married with his now second wife, Sophie Audibert, and three children: CÚlestin,12, Marcel,6, and Joseph,3. Marriage records show they married in 1844, so CÚlestin's mother is either Petronille Auger, or he may have been adopted. There are two other children (Philomena and Elisa) claiming them as parents, but I know at least Philomena is adopted. In fact, this census should have showed them as they were children at the time , so perhaps they were adopted after. I am still figuring this out.
