Hi Marilyn: J.W. Gobin was in the Cival War, serving from Sullivan Co., Indiana. He was in Company D. and joined in 1864. I am the great, great grandaughter of Sophia McClanahan and William Gobin. They are buried in the Engle cemetery at Carlisle, Indiana. Their daughter Elizabeth married Thomas Enochs Davidson and they are also buried in the Engle Cemetery at Carlisle. Elizabeth and Thomas Enochs Davidson are my great grandparents. My grandfather was Thomas Franklin Davidson and he married Melissa Winemiller of Oaktown, Indiana. They in turn had two children: Thomas Franklin, Jr. and Nellie Elizabeth. Nellie Elizabeth married Dr. Charles E. Whipps of Carlisle and my father Thomas Franklin, Jr. married my mother, Vesta A. Jackson of Carlisle. How are you connected in the family? I have a copy of the will of William Gobin with all of the heirs listed. James Gobin is an heir. It is on file at the courthouse at Sullivan, Indiana. Mary Pielemeier
