David Goins was born: 1783 Pearisburg, VA
Married: Susannah Williams Born: 1783 Montgomery Co. VA
On a Rootsweb database there was a note saying David was or thought to be "Melungeon." Until yesterday I had never even heard of this before. So, I did some research this.
It says that maybe of this group went from VA to NC and TN.
David and his family went to Selma, Delaware Co. IN and then back to Pearisburg, VA
I haven't been able to find any parents for David Goins on any site. Does anyone know?
From what I understand the name GOINS is a surname associated with Melungeon's. On ancestry.com I viewed some photos of GOIN's and they look white. So, are all GOIN's Melungeon's or just some?
I find this truly fascinating and unique to my husband's heritage. He's related through the WILLIAMS line. It's truly unique!
