The Melungeon Historical Society's 2nd Annual Conference will be held Sat, June 19 & Sun June 20, at the Hancock County High School in Sneedville, TN. The Melungeon Historical Society is a non-profit organization made up of researchers dedicated to the factual study of the mixed-racial group of families found in upper East Tennessee and the surrounding areas, labeled "Melungeons" by the neighboring population in the late 18th or early 19th century.

Presentations from MHS board members, as well as a variety of special guest speakers, will cover a wide range of subjects relating to the Melungeons, including DNA testing and results, as well as a spectrum of historical and genealogical research. Q & A sessions will follow many of the presentations. A panel discussion will be held on Sunday. There will be no cover charge for the conference, but donations will gladly be accepted. The address for Hancock County High School is 2700 Main St. Sneedville, TN.

More information, including the full conference schedule, can be found at: http://melungeon-historical-society.blogspot.com/2010/04/mhs-second-annual-conference-program.html
