Golch History (Chekoslovokia)

It is a pleasure to open a new family forum. This search effort is for my nephew, Donnie Golch and his father David.

I am looking for information beyond VALENTINE ERIC "GOLDIE" GOLCH (b. 1896 d.1991), who came from Chekoslovokia when he was about 8 years old. His older brother was supposed to have come over to work in the coal mines instead. As a result, Valentine had to wait two more years before he was allowed to work. Valentine was known to have some brothers and sisters.

Golch is supposedly spelled differently in Checkoslovokian (i.e., Cyrilic). Does anyone know what the origin of the name is and what it might look like in Cyrilic?

"Goldie" had a wife named MARY TOMSIC (sp? b. 1908 d. 2003).
