I am thoroughly frustrated in finding ancestry for my Joseph Gold! Could David Gold have survived the war and lived with/married a Cherokee?? My Joseph Gold was born c. 1818, supposedly in Md., of parents also born in Md. He married a Julian ("Julia") A. or E. Parker in Warren Co., MO in 1844. She gave Md. as her birthplace, also parents b. in Md. She was only 16, and I've found no trace of his or her parents in Mo or Md. Been looking for months. One of them was said to have been Cherokee, but MO and Md were NOT ancestral homes to Cherokee people. I am beginning to suspect that, with most Cherokee being "removed" from the "west" to the OK territory, the Md birthplaces were a "cover" story for census-takers. Any clues to the origins of this couple would be gratefully received!
