I know it has been a while since you posted this message. My Grandfather, Ben Martin Gold (b. 1916 d.1987), may have been a grandson. I know his father's name was Benjamin and he was from Grover (Cleveland County), North Carolina. My mother, Virginia Dale Gold (b. 1939), has told me of a Great Uncle, Min Gold, who fought with the 12th North Carolina.

If you are not aware, the Gold and Cabaniss Families of Cleveland County are very closely related. A significant amount of information on the Golds of Lincoln (then Cleveland) County is contained in "Henry Cabaniss and his Descendents" by John Plath Green and in "George Cabaniss and his Descendents" (can't remember the author)

Supposedly, there is a Gold Family Genealogy in the library at Gardner Webb College. Hope this helps. Christian
