Hi my name is Jarrod Seth my mother is Judy Gold. I decend from Johnthon Gold who went to Missouri from Tenn. Ray Gold has written a book about the Golds. I learned that Michael was sent over here from Sheffield England with two brothers in 1781 to fight for England. He deserted on May 24th 1781 in Long Island NY from the 16th Regt British Foot. He joined the rebels and served as a private and was awarded land bounty for his service in Tennesse. Thats how the Golds got to Tennesse. Micheal had three sons who survived. One died in the war of 1812. Your line moved to Alabama. My line moved to Missouri and the third line stayed in Tennessee. It was passed down that Michaels fathers name was Johnothan and his grandfathers name was John Gold and that John Gold imigrated from Scotland to Sheffield England in 1707, probably due to the clan wars that were raging during that time, Any way give me a yoller if you need Ray Golds address you can probably get a copy of traces of Gold, the book he wrote.
