Dear Pam,

Looking for a connection between Jarvice Gould and my Gould family. I know that Jarvice arrived in New England aboard a ship that also carried two very interesting characters in my genealogy, John Stone and his wife, Joan (Joanna? Jone?) Bishop Stone. Johnand Joan died childless; before her death, Joan sent for her nephews (cousins?), the Gould brothers (John--my ancestor, Robert--some of whose descendants use the Goold variant spelling, and Thomas--about which we have very little information) to come to Hull, Massachusetts to take over the Bishop and Stone family holdings there. They arrived in Hull ca. 1663/4. My ancestor, John, moved to Connecticut for an apprenticeship with a tailor. We are under the impression that Robert may have been one of the earliest bricklayers in the English colonies. John married Sarah Axtell in CT and moved to Long Island, NY, settling eventually in Caldwell, NJ, where he is buried in the Old Presbyterian Church Graveyard. E-mail me for more information, please!

Regards,

Stan Gould
