PETER HOLLAND GOLD CORRECTION
Posted by: Regina Pipes (ID *****0881) Date: July 10, 2008 at 08:08:43

Since the death of Ray GOLD (2008) that wrote the book TRACES OF GOLD I will not be able to get one correction made in his book. He states that Peter Holland GOLD was married two times. As far as I can find out this is true BUT he has Peter H GOLD first marring Elizabeth Ann ALRED and then marring a Fannie GENTLE. From Peter H. GOLD military records (Civil War)his second wife Elizabeth states that Peter was first married to Rachel Phillips. She also gives the time period which his first wife died and then when Elizabeth and Peter married. By the dates you can tell that the first three children in the family were the children of Peter and Rachel PHILLIPS GOLD. This makes Elija P. GOLD the son of Peter and Rachel PHILLIPS GOLD. I am guessing that the Elijah PHILLIPS that lived near Peter and Elizabeth later in Jackson County, Alabama were the parents of Rachel and that Elijah P. GOLD was named for him.

I really miss Ray GOLD and everytime I come up with a question or just wanted to bounce things off someone, he was always there. It is so hard to believe that he is gone. Now maybe he will get some of his questions answered when he meets his family that had gone on before him.
