Thanks for posting this valuable information. I see that it's been here for a long time but I hope you still receive messages posted here. I am interested in conversing with you and would like to know the source of this information.

I am descended from this line as well, through Jean Nickolaus / Johann Peter Gold / Peter Johann Gold Jr / and Augusta Gold his daughter, who was my GGrandmother. She told me indian stories when I was young.

The two sons that came to America with Johann Peter Gold, Peter Johann Gold Jr and Jakob Gold Jr, were so named to avoid confusion (yeah, right) between them and their slightly older cousins, sons of Johann Wilhelm Gold, who were called Peter Gold Sr and Jakob Gold Sr.

I've found that the above four men are qualified to be recognized as Former Texas Rangers because of their service in the Frontier Brigade and certain Texas CSA units. This includes a ceremony during which a Texas Ranger Cross is placed on their grave by the Former Texas Ranger Association. Any direct descdendent may sponsor only one ancestor for this honor and I have chosen to so honor Peter Johann Gold Jr.

Warm regards,

Don Bomer...
