It's wonderfull to find another Gold cousin. There are several books on our Gold family one is Gold Family by Fred Gold and Peter D. Gold another is Gold Generations in England and America by Pleasent Daniel Gold. My research contradicts theirs in which Daniel Gold is which. The confution comes in because there are three generations of Daniel Golds all of whom named there children the same. I have found several wills that aren't apperent in the research of the others. Here go's: Sterling C. Gold b. 1795 Mecklinburgh Co. Va m. Aug 12, 1816 Cynthia Hainey (dau. of Robert Hainey {Rev. War soldier} and Elizabeth Bailey) b. 1799 Rutherford Co. N.C. both died after 1860 in Tenn. Children Martin b. 1817 m. Nov 23 1841 Rebecca Fox, Rebecca b.1821, unknown femeale b. 1824, William b, 1827 m. Amanda -----, unknown female b. 1829, Martha b. 1831 m. George W. Routh (my ancestors), Francis Louise b. 1833 m. Horace H. England, Sarah WIlson b. 1836 m. John England, Margaret P. b. 1838, Jane b. 1842 m. Foster Reynolds, Cynthia, b. 1845. The father of Sterling C. is Daniel Gold III b. May 12 1769 Clarksburg, Mecklinburg Co. Va d. April 7, 1847 Lattimore, Cleveland Co. N.C. will dated 10 sept 1842. His mother is Francis Christopher b. 1776 Va d. March 11 1854 They had 11 children. His father was Daniel Gold II b. 1734 Clarksburg, Mecklinburg Co. Va. d. May 27 1793 Mecklinburg Co. Va. His mother was Magaret Seat (dau. of Josiah Seat) and they had 6 children. His father was (of cource) Daniel Gold I b about 1708 Surry Co. Va. d. bef.1770 and his mothers name is unknown. Then there is a line of decent from Daniel Gold I's father Thomas Gold all the way back to a Gold who fought in the 1st crusades with William the Lion heart. The reason I began to question the information that Daniel and Margaret (Seat) Gold were the parrents of Sterling was because of several different descrepencies in reguardes to ages of children. The will of Daniel III from Cleveland Co. N.C. found by Nancy Ellen Furguson clears up the date problems. If you then look at the census you see that Cleveland and Rutherford Co.'s N.C. are close and the other Golds that are neer Francis in 1850 are Sterling C. Gold's brothers. I know this is confusing and I do have information on the other children I only mention will be glad to share more just send me a note. Guy Lingo lingo@gte.net
