The research that was done by Fred and Peter D. Gold shows that, at least this branch of the Gold family came from England. During the time of the crudades Ralph de Vallibus ,a lord, sent John Golde to serve in the Kings army from the manor of Seasbough, Somersetshire, England, this was 1229. It is probably of Saxon origin. Other Gold families might be of Jewish origin but ours is Christian. One possible explanation might be that he had gold hair and then subsequent generation kept Gold as the family name to be respected as the descendents of a crusader, just a possibility. Guy
