Janice:
I do hope you are still around because I need your help!I am searching for my great grandmother Martha Elizabeth Golden and I think she might be the Martha listed in the 1870 census with Jonathan and Nancy Golden.Grannie Martha was born 24 Dec 1867 so could have been their child if they married at the earlier date.Have you seen the posting on Rootsweb that indicates Nancy A. Sprayberry was married previously to Jordan Shores and he died as a result of his wounds in the Battle of Atlanta? According to this report, he died 30 Dec 1863 in Atlanta. What is troubling is that they list Martha J. born 1863 and Mary Jordan Shores born 12 Mar 1864!In this posting the children of Jonathan and Nancy are:
Sallie, b. abt. 1873
Scott, b. about 1874
Newton Loftin, b. 1 Sep 1875 in Clay Co, AL
Sarah A., b. Jun 1876 in Clay Co., AL
Nancy, b. abt. 1878 in AL
Lizabeth, b. Feb 1885
I have emailed both authors of this report but have not received a response. My email address is [email protected]. Thanks, Faye
