Not related to these folks; just trying to figure out why Mrs. Goldsworthy is pictured in the 1746 Reynolds painting of th Eliot family. (Also, the Eliots keep bequeathing hair jewelry containing hair of Mrs. Goldsworthy.) She was not related to them in any way, but they thought enough of her to include her in the family portrait.
Anyway, the reason I'm responding to this is to direct you to letters between Horace Mann & Horace Walpole which might clear up the "extra" children of Mrs. Goldsworthy. Seems she wasn't very concerned about who fathered her children. Perhaps he only legally claimed the two. No idea, but it's worth a thought.
