Thanks for the reply. Where do you live? Mapplewell is very near to Darton, and it could be possible that our two lines are related. My grandmother (Winifred Goldthorpe) still does her shopping in Mapplewell!

Do you have any more information on your Goldthorpe line (i.e. descendants of William Goldthorpe). I have only traced mine back as far as Job Goldthorpe born abt. 1840, and he may be descended from William. It is very likely all my ancestors come from the Darton, Mapplewell area as I guess they didn't move around much in those days!
