Like I said, the family is from Penistone and I believe have been there a while. Dad was at Leeds Uni in the 60's and I did my postgrad in Bradford. Uncle still lives in Thurlstone, which is, to all intents and purposes, Penistone.
Don't have much more on John/Joshua except for the memeory of seeing them on my family tree. Their dates seem right and the names are the same. I'll call my uncle - he's got more information. Incidently, I believe the "e" at the end of my name is a Victorian addition - again, I'm not sure, but I believe some ancestor decided to add it on.
